4. How do I change my depth of discharge on a Deye inverter?

On a Solarman Smart App:

Open the Solarman App and navigate to the “My Plants” page. Tap on the “Check the plant” at the bottom of the page. (See snippet: Plants)

Click on the “Device” tab. (See snippet: Select Device)

Ensure you are on the “Inverter” tab, then select “Remote Control”. This will take you to the Settings Page. (See snippet: Select Device)

Once on the Settings page under “Classification”, scroll down to “System Work Mode – 2”. (See snippet: Grid)

Click “Read” at bottom of System Work Mode 2, and this will read the settings on the inverter. (See snippet: Grid)

The “Time of Use” block needs to be ticked for the timer to be active. At the dropdown below this tick box there are 6 timers where you can set the battery percentage you that want. Example: If you set the percentage to 40 you will then use up 60 percent of the battery. (See snippet: Settings + Timer)

The battery percentage will have to be set in all time periods 1-6. You will see each time
period has a start time and an end time . (See snippet: Grid Charge)

In each time period you can also tick “Grid Charge” if you want Eskom to charge the battery. (See snippet: Grid Charge)

If grid charge is ticked you need to set the percentage of the battery when you want Eskom to stop charging the battery. Example: Setting the battery to 80 percent: if the battery is lower than 80 percent in that time period, then Eskom will charge the battery until it reaches 80 percent.

Once the settings have been done, you need to tap “Setup” at the bottom right-hand side corner to set the settings. (See snippet: Grid Charge)

5. How to restart a Deye inverter?

Switch changeover switch to Eskom so that there is no load from appliances on the inverter. (See snippet: Changeover)

Shut off the “Feed Inverter”, breaker (also called 220v inv supply). (See snippet: Feed Inverter)

Switch off 220v inv return breaker (also called inv mains or load breaker). All these switches should be by the inverter or on your main board in the house. (See snippet: Main Switch)

Switch off the DC switch on the inverter, this will switch off your solar panels. (See snippet: DC Switch)

Once your solar is off, you can puch the on/off button on the inverter. This will either be on the side of the inverter or at the bottom of the inverter depending on the model. Now you will have to wait for the inverter to shut down, this can take a few seconds or up to a minute. (See snippet: On/Off)

Once the inverter is off you can shut down the battery (refer to how to switch on/off battery section).

Now that the whole system has been shut down, you can restart the inverter.

First switch the battery on (refer to how to switch on/off battery section).

Switch the on/off button on the inverter (See snippet: On/Off)

Once the normal light above the inverter screen switches on, you can then proceed to switch on the “Feed Inverter” breaker (also known as the 220v inv supply). (See snippet: Feed Inverter + Light)

Switch on the 220v inv return breaker (also called inv mains or load breaker). You will need to wait for the grid to connect to the inverter which takes about a minute. (See snippet: Main Switch)

Then you can switch on the DC switch to return to the solar. (See snippet: DC Switch)

Finally switch the changeover switch back to the inverter (solar supply). When switching the changeover switch, please make sure you have all the computers off as the power will switch off for a second. Also, switch off all big loads in the house. (See snippet: Changeover)

6. If your battery goes flat:

For the Deye inverters, you will need to wait for Eskom power come back on start charging batteries or till sun comes up in morning so that solar can batteries.

If the only power source is your solar, then inverter will charge batteries to about 40 percent before switch on and give house power.

If Eskom power is on and the inverter does not want to give you power, then will have do a restart system. Please refer section: HOW TO RESTART DEYE INVERTER
